Consultation Services

As a Registered Social Worker, Luke has run trainings, facilitated workshops, and provided training and coaching to various community stakeholders in English and French.

In addition to organizational mental health services, Luke is an Approved Adoption Practitioner-in-Mentorship and offers his consultation services to prospective adoptive parents.

Luke is available on a consultation basis

to discuss special topics relating to social work and mental health.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Luke facilitated workshops on the Duty to Report to medical teams at the Centre de Santé de Hamilton/Niagara and to newcomer groups at Rafiki Hamilton in French. He regularly offers training on mental health disorders and self-regulation to professionals in education in his role as a school-based social worker. More recently, Luke has offered his specialized expertise to organizations looking to improve mental health outcomes for their staff members and clients.

Community Presentations

In various capacities, Luke has provided consultations, trainings, and presentations in French and English to the following community partners:

  • Le Centre de santé de Hamilton-Niagara’s settlement and medical teams (regarding the Duty to Report under the CYFSA)

  • The Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton (regarding French Language Services)

  • Le Conseil scolaire Viamonde (regarding the Duty to Report, DBT Techniques and Special Education, the Zones of Regulation and various psychoeducational workshops)

  • Rafiki Hamilton (regarding laws about physical discipline and the role of CAS for new Canadians)

  • Speaking on a panel for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO)’s YouthNet Program (Programme RéseauAdo)

Luke has provided training, workshops, and consultation services to the following community partners:

Consultation with Franco-Ontarian community stakeholders

A highlight of Luke’s career thus far was advocating for equitable access to services for Francophones in Hamilton alongside his co-worker Natalia Oporska in 2017. The keynote speaker for this event was the Ontario French Language Commissioner, Maître François Boileau.

Luke has also participated in consultation-based focus groups with Entité2 to identify gaps in service for Francophones in accessing social services in Hamilton, and provided organizational mental health training, development and recommendations to the Association francophone des éducateurs et des éducatrices à la petite enfance (l’AFÉSEO).

Luke regularly consults with education professionals in his role as a school-based social worker.

 

Luke provides consultation and assessment services to prospective adoptive families. He is an Approved Adoption Practitioner and consults with families, schools, and community organizations about the attachment needs of adopted children.
